What is low-risk drinking?

In 1997, a team of Canadian researchers did a comprehensive review of the international research on alcohol and health. Their findings led to the development of the Low-Risk Drinking Guidelines. The research literature was once again reviewed in 2003; the Guidelines were re-confirmed and the language clarified.

The Guidelines balance the risks and benefits of alcohol. For information on what The Guidelines say, visit the Guidelines section, or visit our Frequently Asked Questions section for the most commonly asked questions about LRDGs.

For information on how to promote the LRDGs, visit the Promotion section, or for information about previous promotional campaigns, click here.
